What the $5,000 allowance is for. It is held against overages and any non-program invoices you run up during training. Whatever is unspent at graduation or withdrawal goes back to you, or to your lender. There is no guarantee it covers everything, and you are responsible for anything beyond it.

What is not in the number

Housing, food, transport to and from campus, personal living expenses, an iPad capable of running current iOS, a ForeFlight subscription, the FAA medical exam, TSA authorization fees, non-owned aircraft insurance, remedial training, instruction or aircraft rental beyond the per-course maximum, re-testing after a failed knowledge or practical exam, and late-cancel or no-show fees.

What happens if you exceed the hours in a course

You are invoiced the overage for that rating at the current rate. Overages cannot be offset against unused hours from a different course. Each rating stands on its own. Substituting aircraft time for syllabus simulator time is billed at the differential.

Four lenders, four different answers.

Which one is cheapest depends on your credit band and on whether a fixed payment or an income-based one suits you.
