Start before you graduate.
Rising Aviation High School is an aviation career and technical school, and it is our neighbour on Addison Airport. Its students train with Thrust instructors as part of the school day, starting in their junior year.
Flight training inside the timetable.
The reason this works is geography. Rising Aviation is an airport neighbour, so a student walks to the aircraft rather than losing an afternoon to traffic. Flight instruction is built into the regular school day instead of being bolted onto the end of it.
Students begin in their junior year. By the time they graduate they are not starting from zero, and the hours they have logged do not evaporate — they carry straight into Zero Time to Airline.
The partnership began in 2023. Rising Aviation runs the school; we teach the flying.

If you are not at Rising Aviation.
You do not have to be. Nothing stops somebody under eighteen flying and logging hours right now, and every one of those hours counts toward the same certificates later. Program entry at Thrust is eighteen, or seventeen with parental consent and the school president’s approval.
The practical advice for a fifteen or sixteen year old is the same either way: start flying, keep the logbook, and do not spend money on anything that does not log. An advisor will talk to you and your parents together — that conversation is usually more useful to the parent than the student.
Worth a look.
